Ghanaian-American theologian and philanthropist, Archbishop Kofi Adonteng Boateng has stated that he did not coerce gospel musician, Great Ampong, to apologize to Daddy Lumba.

The theologian pointed out that for Great Ampong to be ordained as a minister of God, the musician needed to resolve disputes with others to stand pure before God.

Archbishop Adonteng stated that he suggested Great Ampong apologize to Daddy Lumba for past issues, which the artiste agreed to and did promptly.

In a conversation with blogger Zionfelix, Adonteng clarified that Great Ampong was not forced to apologize to Daddy Lumba, contrary to some claims.

"Before I ordained Ampong, I had heard about his conflict with Daddy Lumba, and there were questions about why Ampong had insulted Lumba. In a dispute, you don't rule in favour of the younger one to prevail; acceptance from one party is needed to move forward.

"I'm indifferent to whether it's Lumba or Ampong's fault, but my concern was that since Ampong is the younger, he should apologize to Lumba to cleanse his heart. When I advised Ampong, he consented and acted accordingly. I merely counselled Ampong, there was no compulsion," the clergyman said in Twi.

This follows Great Ampong's request for Daddy Lumba's forgiveness over their past disagreements, aiming for a restoration of their relationship.

The apology elicited varied responses from the public, with some individuals alleging that Archbishop Adonteng pressured Great Ampong into making the apology.
