Ghanaian singer and politician, Diamond Appiah has refuted media reports suggesting she lost miserably to her opponents in her bid to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for Trobu Constituency in Amasaman, Greater Accra Region.

EIB Network yesterday reported that the artiste’s attempt to be a Member of Parliament ended in miserable way as she polled 429 votes out of the 75, 792 votes casted in her Constituency.

The recording actress from a social media post said she performed better than her contenders as she had the third highest of votes collated.

“For your information I got the third highest of votes collated and did better than candidates of CPP and PPP which are established political parties with more sympathizers than the new party's ticket I contested on,” she said.

According to her, losing the Trobu seat does not worry her because her presidential candidate – Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) managed to secure more votes in the Constituency.

“In fact the NPP secured more votes in Trobu n nationwide than they did in 2012. So I didn't lose miserably as u claim because Nana Akufo-Addo's Victory is the biggest win for me and my team,” she said.

Diamond Appiah said contesting in the parliamentary elections was a great experience as it projected her image and won for her many friends as well.
