Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah well known as Shatta Wale has revealed he was not responsible for the song he performed at the just ended Glo CAF Awards held in Nigeria.

Speaking on Kasahare level on Adom FM with colleague musician and radio presenter Pope Skinny, Shatta Wale explained that in as much as he wished he could perform any of his hit tracks than Reality, organizers of the event who contracted him months before the show chose that song.

“They contacted my manager about two months before the event and asked me to perform Reality even though I protested and suggested I had other hit songs. According to them, the song was bigger in South Africa because of the lyrics and they wanted the rest of the world to hear it”

Earlier, many showbiz critics had suggested Shatta Wale was not corporate enough for such an event. However, Shatta Wale explains he had no option than to perform the requested song especially when he had been paid a good sum of money.

Shatta Wale was the only Ghanaian artist to perform at this year’s Glo CAF Awards.

He performed alongside other artists from across the continent including D’Banj, Awilo, Salif Keita and many others.
