Ghanaian gospel musician cum pastor Sonnie Badu has shared details of a domestic accident he experienced just days before his ‘Rhythms of Africa’ event in Accra.

Sonnie Badu recalled the incident where he stumbled on the stairs between his garden and metal railings while cleaning and watering.

According to him, he was promptly taken to an undisclosed hospital to treat the wounds, particularly on his injured toes.

He stated that on the day of the concert, he was very anxious about how the injury might impact his performance.

He also disclosed that throughout the week leading up to the concert, he had been fasting, which led him to decline the painkillers prescribed by the doctor.

“I told the doctor I wasn’t going to take any painkillers because I was fasting,” he said.

Despite his injury, Sonnie Badu attended the concert with his stitches on.

“The stitches came undone while I was dancing,” he admitted, adding that the pain was intense but his dedication to the fans and his craft drove him to push through.

He also revealed how he managed to perform at the concert just five days after his surgery.

“I had the surgery just five days before the concert, but there was no way I could cancel it.”
