Ghanaian Hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone has stated that he does not approve of the word ‘celebrity’ being used for many personalities in the entertainment industry.

According to him, the term is overused and often misapplied.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV's Patricia Rockson Hammond on Moans and Cuddles, Reggie Rockstone, when asked the question, ‘Who is a celebrity?’ replied, "I don't even know now. The terminology 'celebrity' is used a little bit loosely because what are you celebrating about this person?"

He went on to express his discomfort with the term, suggesting that new words should be used to describe people who are often labelled as celebrities.

"I, myself, don't really like that word. I don't subscribe to it. That's why I rather use the term 'so-called celebrity.'"

Rockstone also highlighted the challenges faced by the current generation due to the prevalence of smartphones and the internet.

According to him, scandals can turn individuals into overnight celebrities in today’s world.

Reflecting on his own experiences, he mentioned that the absence of smartphones and social media during his youth spared him from potential scandals.
