Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Obaapa Christy has disclosed that she does not use traditional methods of songwriting when composing songs.

In an interview with Giovanni Caleb on TV3, she stated that even though she composes her songs herself, she does not write her lyrics in a book.

She added that she instead relies on her phone to capture her musical ideas, which she then uses in the studio.

“I compose my own songs, but I don’t write any lyrics in any book. I don’t even have a pen. God inspires me and I put it on my phone so when I get to the studio, I sing. I sing into the phone like a voice recording,” she explained.

Explaining her creative process, the “W'asue Me” hitmaker said she also gets inspired by everyday conversations, which she incorporates into her songs.

“Sometimes when I'm doing something, let's say I'm talking to someone or working, I can hear sentences and words that touch my heart and I put them in my songs,” she added.
