Popular Ghanaian comedian, DKB, has declared that he has dedicated his life to NDC Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.
DKB, who showed up at the NDC’s 2024 Manifesto Launch at Winneba in the Central Region, on August 24, 2024, publicly declared his support for Mahama, citing a personal connection and appreciation for the former president's recognition of his work.
"I'm here to reciprocate the love JM showed me on the night of the youth soiree at Bukom. It has never happened to me in my life before that a president will repeat two of my jokes. I've dedicated my life to him for free. I'm telling you, I'm here to reciprocate what he has done for me," DKB explained in an interview with JoyNews.
Known as a "Presidential Comedian," DKB said that he has performed for every president in Ghana except the late John Atta Mills in the current republic.
He cited performances for former presidents John Kufuor, John Mahama, current president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Reflecting on Mahama repeating his jokes, DKB proudly noted that he is the only comedian endorsed by a president, a recognition that has brought him international attention.
DKB also added that he being recognised by Mahama means the former president has the goodwill of the creative arts industry at heart.
"Do you know how it feels when you are getting calls from Brazil, Colorado, the Middle East? There are Ghanaians in Jordan, in Quebec, watching it online. I was moved and touched because it means that the president pays attention to my industry. So, if he's in power, how difficult will it be for him to cater to my industry?" DKB remarked.
