The debate of who wins Artiste of the Year at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) keeps intensifying on social media platforms.

While some have tipped dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy to be crowned winner, others have routed for highlife artiste, Bisa Kdei.

Answering if he thinks he can win the category on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz, Bisa Kdei said, “It will come to pass God willing. But we are not there yet so I can’t talk about it.”

Asked if he was not confident of winning, the Mansa singer responded in the negative.

“Oh no. I’m highly confident but I don’t want to make noise about it when the time for the event isn’t due. It’s a competition and a game…,” Bisa said.

When host, Sammy Flex, pushed further on whether he has done enough the year under review, Bisa Kdei noted he has performed creditably well.

“I’ve done enough. Starting from January to December, I told myself at the end of the year that I want to give Ghanaians two hit songs that will trend across Ghana and parts of the world. And I’ve been able to do that which is an achievement for Bisa Kdei and his team… I deserve to get something next year,” he indicated.

Per the criteria for the VGMA’s, Artiste of the Year is the topmost award at the Ghana Music Awards, given to the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Academy, Board and the General Public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity. The artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

Bisa Kdei, whom many have said dominated highlife, released two hit songs Mansa and Brother Brother produced by Kaywa and himself respectively in 2015.

He also dropped his second album titled Breakthrough and did a number of hit collaborations with some other artistes.
