Ghanaian business executive cum entrepreneur, D-Black, has opened up on the challenges of managing multiple artistes in the industry.

In a recent episode of Talkertainment on GhanaWeb TV, D-Black reflected on his journey of signing six artistes, stating that only Sefa became successful, while the others left for various reasons.

He expressed that he wasn’t disappointed with the outcome, as he understood from the onset that not all artistes would succeed.

“I knew that all six of them were not going to be a success story. This music industry takes not just talent, it takes resilience and it takes hard work. You have to want it more for yourself than I want it for you. I can't get ready before you for your interview. I can't remind you that you have an interview constantly.

“So a lot of people felt like maybe I was too hard on them. That was one. A lot of people felt like they could not wait because I believe in paying your dues and growing,” he told the host Elsie Lamar.

Citing the example of Paul, an artiste who has been under his wing, D-Black highlighted the importance of artiste development, adding that some artistes were not ready to endure the rigorous process of growth and learning, leading to their departure from his label.

According to him, success requires not just talent but also resilience and hard work.

“He (Paul) is still going through artiste development. I feel like people have to go through that. And some people were not ready to go through that. People felt like, ‘Look, this is my time, I've paid my dues, I gotta go now.’

“But one of the people who was ready to grow and learn was Sefa. (As for the others) I can't speak on what they've done with their careers since then,” he shared.

However, D-Black praised Sefa for her dedication and willingness to grow, which has resulted in a successful partnership.

"Once we decided we were gonna go with Sefa first, I can say it's been a successful period," he stated.
