Movie producer Socrates Sarfo, who has been widely tipped to be Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has said he will not be disappointed if another person is chosen for the role.
According to him, there are lots of competent Ghanaians for that position and he will lend his support to whoever President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo settles on for the position.
He, however, noted that the creative arts industry would stand to benefit should he be picked for the role or to serve in any capacity within the ministry.
Mr Safo made this known on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM with Bismark Boachie (DJ Premier) on Saturday 11 March.
“As far as the appointment is concerned, whatever they will say, as a citizen and not a spectator, I will support it.
If somebody is picked as Deputy Minister, I’ll support that person with everything that I have.
But if it’s given to me, I will work and Ghana will benefit and the creative arts industry will benefit.
But if I’m given any other position within the creative arts industry where I belong, I will be able to also perform to fix the industry,” he stated.
Asked what he would do if overlooked in the handing of appointments, Mr Safo said: “A lot of people can do the job and politics is not a do-or-die affair. If I don’t get the job hell will not break loose...”
He noted that Nana Akufo-Addo lost elections twice before eventually becoming president so “whether I get it or not I will serve Ghana in whatever capacity”, adding: “Even when we were in opposition, I was still supporting the ministry with my advice.”
