Ghanaian musician DJ Azonto has said that he will only agree to perform at events organized by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) if he is permitted by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer was the first to invite him as a politician, and therefore he would have to respect him by seeking his permission before performing for the NDC.

“If the NDC calls me for a performance, why not? I will ask for permission from the Vice President, saying, 'Daddy, you invited me first.

"Thank you. You showed me the way.' You know that just one performance can give you a hundred performances. Mercury, I hope you know because just performing for President Bawumia has given me the opportunity to get Hitz FM airtime at this crucial time. Thank you,” he said while speaking on Accra-based Hitz FM.
