With his numerous accomplishments in the creative arts sector, many wonder how renowned playwright Ebo Whyte wishes to be remembered and how he hopes to preserve his legacy.

In an interview with GhanaWeb TV for the documentary "The Uncle Ebo Whyte Story: A Legacy of Inspiration & Creativity," Ebo Whyte shared his thoughts on legacy and the importance of living in the present.

According to him, he is not concerned with maintaining or living up to a legacy.

"I've never been bothered about legacy because I think anyone who goes out of his way to try to create a legacy will fail. The important thing is to do what you are doing to the best of your ability today, and posterity will decide whether you leave a legacy or not," he told Benefo Buabeng, popularly known as Abrantepa.

He emphasised that a legacy is not something one can dictate but rather something that is determined by future generations based on one's impact.

"You see African dictators who put up monuments to themselves. When they died or were overthrown, what did we do? We broke it all down."

He believes that true legacy comes from being faithful to one's calling and making the most of opportunities.

"So it is not up to you to decide what your legacy will be. But if you were faithful to whatever you thought your calling was, or whatever opportunities came your way if you were committed to it and did the best you could, then the future posterity, looking at your impact, would then decide that ‘Yes, he left us a legacy of this thing,’" Whyte explained.

For now, Uncle Ebo Whyte is focused on enjoying his work. "For a 70-year-old man to be doing this, that is very huge for me," he concluded.

His passion and dedication to his craft are captured in the GhanaWeb TV documentary "The Uncle Ebo Whyte Story: A Legacy of Inspiration & Creativity."

It features insights from various personalities who have been impacted by Ebo Whyte. The documentary uncovers intriguing details about the popular playwright.

It also delves into his journey from early failures and financial struggles, to losing his car, and job, and even burning his certificates.
