Virtually 48 hours after Ghanaian rap artist Okyeame Kwame released Saucing, a new music project which features his children Sante and Sir, social media has run wild with a number of reviews.
Of course, some of the reviews are positive with many commending the kids and their prowess on the song. Others, have also people questioned why Okyeame Kwame is roping his kids into such a project at a young age.
Well, for Okyeame Kwame, there’s no problem at all since he is not forcing his kids into what he does.
Speaking with NY DJ on Kumai’s biggest breakfast show #RYSENSHYNE on Y102.5FM, Okyeame Kwame explained the project came easily to his kids and does not feel his kids being pressured into it.
Music is in my father’s DNA and so far as you are born into that line, you can’t run away from it. It’s a precious gift to my family. If you follow my Instagram accounts, you realize how my kids get to play with words. It’s something they love to do.
Would you believe I once asked my daughter Sante to scratch my back for me because it was itching and she said, “Daddy, everyday scratch my back, why? Am I your DJ?”
You can go to my family house right now and it will shock you how my nephews get to rap”
Asked if he will continue to work with his kids on future projects, Okyeame Kwame revealed he was yet to think about it since they were only playing around Saucing.
He also explained any future thoughts of a project could be informed by how his kids manage their new found fame.
Okyeame Kwame was also grateful for all the positive reviews on the kids efforts on the new song.
Since the release of the video, Saucing has been on top of the trending videos on YouTube in Ghana.
