I no longer get challenged doing rap - Okyeame Kwame

After thriving in the rap industry for fifteen years, Okyeame Kwame also knows as the Rap Doctor has revealed he doesn’t feel challenged anymore with rap music and wants to compete with top singers like Amakye Dede and others.

Among all that he said, he took time to clarify certain issues like his marriage, his ‘walking on the water’ saga, and where his loyalty lies in regards to the rumours about his intentions of becoming the next MUSIGA’s president.

The rapper who is working on his new album, African Connection, said he has reduced substantially the rap in his music for singing, despite his strides in the industry which includes winning an award every year of his musical career.

During an interview with GhanaWeb in his spacious One Mic Entertainment Studio in Accra, Okyeame Kwame said his new album is the product of his motivation to go beyond his abilities.

He features 16 top African artistes from 16 African countries in the album including Ivorian, Salif "Asalfo" Traoré of Magic Systems fame and Senegalese rapper, Didier Awadi who are expected to be in his studio next week for their recording sessions.

In March, four other artistes from South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda would be expected to record their part on the album.

Okyeame Kwame said his studio which is a digital studio purposely built for live music recording would host the guest artistes while cutting down on cost and assuring comfort looking at the colourful decor of his 15-year idea.
