I panic sometimes about my brand – Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper and two times GMA artiste of the year winner, Sarkodie has admitted that he sometimes fears the brand he has built for himself over the past few years in the music industry might fade away.

Though it is a feeling he is not excited about, he admits it is a sensation that pushes him on to attain greatness on the music scene.

Speaking to Flexy Tuesday night on Talk Showbiz, he said such feeling has persisted long after he shot in the limelight after his first album.

“You need that feeling to keep you on your toes because I started feeling scared not now,” he said.

“It was when I released ‘Baby’ with Mugeez when I had the bars and Ghanaians were talking about Sarkodie everywhere that he is the biggest thing, ( that was when I felt that way).”

“Don’t think it is fun because you have to always be there, you have to be always be consistent, you have to improve and how do you do that?” he asked rhetorically.

The hip-life star and BET Award winner stated that to keep his brand on point, he does a lot of analysis to get it right.

“You always sit down and analyze; what kind of beat do you use, what kind of style do you use. You need to always step up. It is really healthy.

“Because the same way you came up, someone will also come up as well. So you have to be strong and keep the brand.”

The Ghanaian rapper took the opportunity to interact with host, Flexy on his new clothing line which is set to be launched on the Ghanaian market on Saturday, April 27.

“I did the clothing line (Sark Collection) basically because of one thing.”

“When I go on shows in certain countries or certain cities, I see fans who have my T-Shirt that I didn’t endorse, but has my face on it,” he explained.

“Then I felt like they will wish to have something from you that they can hold on to. They just don’t want to listen to you and that is it.

“They want to live you. So I felt why I don’t take it to the next level. Why don’t I make it official?”

“So let me do it like a shoe or a shirt that you can wear and everything so that is what actually inspired me,” he concluded.

According to the Tema based lyrical master, the Sark apparel will be found in just one shop after the launch on Saturday at the Aphrodisiac night club though the team will later branch out with the items on the African continent and worldwide.
