Popular dancehall musician Shatta Wale has revealed that after he had a call from the management of Beyoncé to feature him on a song, for about five minutes he thought he was asleep.

The self-acclaimed dancehall king explained that he was trying to really check if he was asleep or awake at first.

According to him, he thought maybe they wanted to call R. Kelly or Jay-Z and called him by mistake.

He made this revelation in an interview on Accra-based Onua 95.1 FM’s entertainment talk show 'Anigye Mmre'.

“I relaxed, thought about the work, went through the necessary things they told me, I prayed to God to guide me, protect me so I can deliver what they want because these are serious people."

“If you can’t deliver what they actually want to hear, you cannot be on that album and I started to do what I do best in the studio.”

He continued: “I told myself maybe this is one of the missions God wants me to accomplish. I decided to start recording, putting words together, listen to what she was talking about in the song, she was singing about.

“I sent the first one I did to Bulldog, Chris and Lesli for them to listen but they told me I can do better so I should go back again try crack my brains and after I did it again they said it’s good.”

According to Shatta Wale, when he sent the song to the management of Beyoncé, they were excited about what he did.

“So they later told me Beyoncé came to the studio, listened to it and she wanted me to sing another verse she sang,” he said because Shatta Wale will sound better singing that part.

Shatta Wale went on to tell host Christian Agyei Frimpong that, he actually spent a whole night watching videos, documentaries from Beyoncé just to know what she likes.
