Ghanaian dancehall artiste, J. Derobie, has said that he is looking up to Nigerian songwriter and singer, Mr Eazi because he aspires to be like him.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Kwesi Asare on The Big Show on Class 91.3FM on Saturday, 2 March 2019, the ‘Poverty’ hitmaker said that he aims to reach Mr Eazi’s status in the next five to six years.

“I am really looking up to him, he is a very sharp man and I am always looking up to him and I want to be like him in the next five to six years.”

The young artiste started trending after his song “Poverty” hit the waves. The song, which is about rising out of poverty by dint of hard work and determination has attracted over 200,000 views on YouTube.

A list of artistes like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Popcaan, Samini, and many others have shown support for J. Derobie after his song went viral.

Known in real life as Derrick Obuobi Junior, the Ghanaian dancehall artiste was discovered by Mr Eazi’s #emPawa100 programme, which supports underground artistes with their musical career by helping them release their songs.
