Ghanaian gospel singer Alice McKenzie has expressed her desire to collaborate with American RnB star Chris Brown in a song.

In an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM on August 1, 2024, Alice McKenzie said her decision was because she admired Chris Brown’s musical talent and versatility.

She admitted that she listens to secular music, especially songs by Chris Brown and would love to collaborate with him despite his social activities.

“I just like him. I literally like everything about him. He's very talented music-wise. Whatever happens socially, I don't want to know. But he's very talented with his music and I've followed him and his style for a very long time.”

“I don't want to be a hypocrite because I listen to a lot of secular artists. After all, it's not just what they do, it is the message. Sometimes some of the message shapes our lifestyle,” she said.

She cited American gospel artiste Chandler Moore's collaboration with Justin Bieber as an example of how such partnerships can reach wider audiences and win souls for Christ.

She also shared her own experience of working with a secular artist in the UK on a gospel song, which was well-received and helped spread a positive message.

“Justin has now won souls from his camp for Christians a lot. Actually, a secular artist has featured me before, but it was a gospel song. And the song is beautiful,” she stated.

Explaining her decision, she stated, “We are doing gospel, God does not discriminate. So why would I say you are better than me or I'm better than you?"
