Kasar, a signee of Lynx Entertainment, has revealed that he switched from making gospel songs to secular music because he just wants to create good music.
According to him, he is focused on making good music regardless of the genre or category the song falls into.
He mentioned that identifying solely as a gospel singer may hinder him from creating music that does not fit into the gospel category.
"I decided to switch to secular because I realized that despite being a church boy and growing up in the church, if I wanted to pursue this professionally, it would be limiting to stick only to gospel music.
“Aside that, I realized that I also love good music, good music in general, it doesn’t matter if it is country, reggae, I mean any type of music, so far as the music is good.
“I would want to write a love song, a song about the economy, or lifestyle or things a lot of people are going through. On those grounds, I decided to stop thinking about what people would say about me and focus on what exactly I want, that is why I switched,” Kasar explained on an interview on TV3.
The Afrobeat singer mentioned that, before he switched to secular music, he had gospel songs that made a million views.
He said, “Oh I was doing gospel music, and I didn’t switch because I wasn’t getting support, it was about the mentality, and by the time I was switching, I think some of my content on YouTube had about a million views.”
