One of the most sensational gospel musicians of our time; Nyame Akoa Malonzy has indicated strenuously that, he is disappointed for not earning a single nomination in this years Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMAs).
Malonzy, who is noted with the hit song ”Yesu Ba”, filed in five categories namely: Discovery of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Popular Song of the Year , Album of the Year and Best directed Music Video.
Speaking in an inspiring telephone conversation with Accra-based Hot 93.9Fm from his residence in America on ‘Hot and classic showbiz review, Malonzy affirmed diligently that, he was expecting to receive at least 3 nominations and that he is disappointed for not earning even a single nomination:
“Well, my management in Ghana filed in five categories on my behalf…which is, ‘Discovery of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Popular Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best directed Music Video…Considering the tremendous work I did in the year under review, I was expecting to earn nothing less than three of the categories: Discovery of the Year, Gospel Song Of the Year and Best directed Music video with my Golthota hit song”, Malonzy opined to Hot 93.9fm with much passion.
The ‘Yesu Ba’ hitmaker explained with great ardor that, even though he is extremely disappointed for not receiving any nomination, he’ll keep pursuing his paramount goal for doing music, which is: To win souls for Christ and also hit on key socio-religious concerns.
“Winning awards is a plus…Yes, it’s very good to win awards or earn a nomination–but awards aren’t? the motive behind my music; my aim is to win souls for Christ and hit on key socio-religious concerns like Sakawa, fake pastors/prophets and infidelity.. Yes,am disappointed for not earning a nomination but it has rather strengthened me to work extra harder.”Malonzy explained.
Nyame Akoa Malonzy, who aside ‘Yesu Ba’ is also noted for songs like, ‘Golgotha and 2017, congratulated all the artistes who earned nomination in various categories– but quickly accentuated that,”the board should make it a point to properly go through all the submitted entries next year because if the board had vigorously done that i would’ve earned a nomination”.
