Ghana’s representative at the just ended Miss Universe 2017 pageant, Ruth Quashie has arrived safely home, with a large crowd of fans cheering her on.
Miss Quashie was able to lead Ghana to the Top 16 group in the pageant, which is Ghana’s best achievement since the country made the Top 10 list in in 1999 with contestant Akuba Cudjoe, and winning Miss Congeniality in 2006 with Angela Asare.
However, it seems not much support was given to Miss Quashie during her participation, as according to her, she did not receive the backing of her people like she needed. In a report by Blogger Zionfelix.com, Miss Quashe indicated that for her to go further in the competition, she needed public votes, but did not get them.
“My best was what took me to top 16. They gave the public the chance to vote for top 10 and there was no one there to vote for me. Looking into the crowd, I saw only two people who came to support me. It was hard for me but I knew that if I make an impact, it will be easy for the next person.
It was a painful experience," the beauty queen noted. Speaking with Zionfelix, Miss Quashie asserted, that Ghana can really reach the top in such a competition as long as the citizens show their support to the chosen representative.
She stated that she had definitely done her part by selling Ghana to the world, which has made the people she encountered want to visit the country, but the fact that there was minimal support from Ghanaians saddened her.
