2018 Black Entertainment Television Awards nominee, Kwesi Arthur has revealed he could not realise his dream of becoming a lawyer because he was unable to have access to his WASSCE results over failure to pay his school fees.

The former student of Tema Senior High School (Temasco), said his inability to retrieve his results thwarted his plans of furthering his education at Ghana’s premiere university, the University of Ghana.

In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on the Delay Show, Kwesi Arthur disclosed he wanted to pursue Psychology at the University of Ghana, Legon and later top it up with law.

“I wanted to go to University of Ghana to study psychology and hopefully after that I’ll go and do law. But it didn’t go as planned because while at Temasco, I had arrears to pay so I wasn’t able to see my results,” Kwesi Arthur disclosed.

Years after leaving Temasco, the Tema-based artiste says he is still owning his alma mater.

“I’m still owing. As I speak to you now, I still haven’t paid my fees. I’ve to go and settle them,” he told Delay while laughing.

The fast-rising rap sensation said he was frustrated when he realised his dreams of pursuing tertiary education could not be achieved.

But for his music talent, Kwesi Arthur’s life possibly would have been miserable as he claims he didn’t have any “plans B” for the future.

He said, “I was very disturbed. I wasn’t even thinking about the future. I was wondering what I’ll be doing at the time. At that time I was still writing music so I just decided to go to this studio in my hood and talk it through with the owner to help me record beats in exchange for my service which was to be sweeping the studio.”

I started recording people within a week. I wasn’t paying but that was enough to feed myself because there were times people don’t come around to record. I sometimes have to fall on my parents for something small to take care of my needs,” he added.

Despite all the ups and downs he faced in his early days, Kwesi Arthur is one of the finest artistes the Ghanaian music industry can be proud of today.

He has released hit songs such as ‘Grind Day’, ‘Anthem’, ‘Woara’, ‘Devil Knocking’, ‘Ade Akye’, and many more.

His talent, coupled with hard work earned him a nomination for the 2018 edition of Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards but unfortunately, he lost the ‘Viewers' Choice: Best New International Act’ award to South Africa’s Sjava.
