I will be shocked if I don't win Songwriter of the Year - Minister O.J

Minister O.J, known in private life as Michael Oware Sakyi has said that he will be shocked if he does not win the Songwriter of the Year category in this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

He said this in an interview with Flex newspaper some few weeks back. “I am very excited and very satisfied about my nominations. I aimed at five nominations but thanks to God I had six. I will like to take this opportunity to thank my fans for their support and encouragement as well,'' O.J expressed gratitude.

And when he was asked which of the categories he looked forward to winning, he had this to say: “First of all I am very hopeful of the Songwriter of the Year award, Gospel Song of the Year and then also Vodafone song of the Year award as well.” According to O.J even though all the categories in which he finds himself are very competitive, he is very sure of walloping them.

“My strength is in the song I write and the quality of music I came out with. If you have a good song with a strong sound and you have something good to offer in terms of lyrics, your song stands the chance of winning any category it finds itself in'' he explained.

And when he was finally asked if he would be disappointed if he does not win the Songwriter of the year, he had this to say: “I will not be disappointed but I will rather be shocked and surprised but my advice to my colleagues is that, we shouldn't be so obsessed about winning awards. It's a human institution and people can decide to do what they want to do. I pray that the right thing will done so that we will all laugh together” O. J added.
