Emmanuel Botchwey known in Showbiz Circles as Kwaw Kese has parried suggestions the release of his recent gospel-themed single, Aseda means he’s decided to become a gospel musician.

The release, which came weeks after he was done with jail time over his complexity in a drug related matter, got his fans asking if he’s done with secular music.

“I just do not get why people think I am doing gospel or I will become a gospel musician, I mean with what I have been through and what the lord has done for him, it was just right that I sing to thank God. I do not have to be a gospel musician to do so.

“For me, I believe every talent comes from God and the song I did was to thank God for seeing me through my trying moments. But the bottom line is, I am not going to be a gospel musician but if the need comes that I do something to thank God I will do it,” he told livefmghana.com.

According to the Yakubu singer, he has “a very good relationship with God” and does not need to become a gospel artiste to demonstrate that.

“You know it is funny how people think that, if you don’t stand in church to sing or you are not a gospel musician, then you are not a believer of Christ but the truth is, it was God who gave me the talent to sing and make the people of the street happy, I have always known God and God has always been the pillar that holds my life and I do not need to be a gospel musician to prove that.

“There is a song that I will be dropping in September called Haters which features Stonebwoy, but before that, I will be releasing Dance in August. Plus my hood tour which begins on August and I will be at Taborah No 5 a suburb of Accra. Then to Swedru on the 15th for the Akwoambo bash,” he said.

Kese is well known for his hit album of 2007, Abodam, which won him 5 awards at the 2008 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
