I will never perform at a night club - Ohemaa Mercy

Ohemaa Mercy Ohemaa Mercy

The recent Favourite Gospel Icon Award Winner at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2016, Oheema Mercy has said without any fear that she will never perform at the night club no matter the amount of money involved. She said this on the TIG Show with Franky5 on Hitz FM.

According to the gospel artiste, she will never perform at the night club even if souls are perishing because she feels that isn’t the only place to reach out to them and so she will never be there even if that is the only option.

She believes there are so many other places she could reach out to the souls apart from the club.

Contrary to what other gospel artistes think about the gospel industry and showbiz, she has made it clear that for her the gospel music is a ministry and not showbiz since it’s all about impacting lives positively and transforming people with her songs.

According to her if one is not careful, the person is likely to attract the wrath of God if he/she doesn’t do it well. She believes gospel is a calling and not what one chooses to do on his/her own.

She however confirmed that because she has the music side as a person, she needs other people to manage the business side of her. But when it comes to her as a person she always has to be careful as a gospel artiste in order not to backslide because she has been called by God.

When she was asked whether she will ever perform for free? In response, she boldly said yes she will and does perform for free sometimes. “Sometimes my team goes for the money on my behalf but I ask them to return it”she quickly noted.

As to whether every gospel artiste is doing genuine and holyspirit filled songs, she responded by saying she wasn’t in the right position to condemn any song but knows for a fact that very soon the ones that are accepted by God will surely stand stall amongst the rest.

When she was asked about female gospel artistes getting married to pastors and the problems it comes with, she said it depends on the individuals to make the marriage work. Because she doesn’t believe it is a mistake for a female gospel artiste to marry a pastor, bishop or any other person.

According to her, it all depends on the couple and how they manage their challenges and problems as and when they occur and ultimately making sure God dwells in the marriage.
