I will rebrand actors guild – Samuel Fiscian

Sammy Fiscian, President of Ghana Actors Guild Sammy Fiscian, President of Ghana Actors Guild

The newly elected President of the Ghana Actors Guild, Samuel Fiscian has pledged re-branding the union to make it more attractive.

This according to him is based on the fact that, it is the Guild which brings and unites films makers across the length and breadth of the country and so, it must portray a good image which will sell our valued industry and our movies to the world being an example and a reliable governing body for everyone in the industry to follow.

In a chat with Flex newspaper, Samuel Fiscian revealed that most of the actors and actresses are not registered members of the union with reasons being that, the Actors Guild as a union is not attractive for them to join due to how it is badly branded which to him, is a bad nod to the union.

He continued that only few people in Ghana know about the guild and even those who know about the union have little information about what they do which is not helping the improvement of the union and this according to him, will change under his leadership because the union is supposed to be a welfare body for actors.

There are many new actors and actresses in the movie industry which is a good sign for growth but because the union is unknown to many especially the new actors and actresses, it remains a negative sign to their welfare and also to their career.

He therefore educated the public on the need to join the union as it will continually provide financial support for actors and actresses when needed. He revealed that the previous executive members did their best to push the union in a suitable position and he will therefore appreciate their effort and their time they had for the Guild and now that he is to continue, he will do his best to see to the upliftment of the union.

Samuel Fiscian also made it clear that the union will have different branches which will enable the other executive members who are outside Accra have their meetings in various regional offices until they call for general assembly meeting, this is because they have only two offices in the country that is in Accra and Kumasi making it difficult for members in the other regions have a regular meeting which is affecting them.

Mr Fiscian also noted that, his confidence in Van Vicker as his vice is very high due to his level of experience he has in the industry and believe together, they will attain positive goals which will benefit the union. “I’m comfortable working with Van Vicker as my vice president because he is well experienced and have more knowledge about Ghana’s movie industry, likewise the other members of the board because we are much united so with this, we can achieve good brand for the union,” he stated.

He added that he knows that the people will be willing for good accountability from them, so they are going to account for any amount that will come and be used by the board. This he believes will breed trust which will push the improvement of the union and make it attractive to everyone who is a member or even the non-members. In conclusion Fiscian stated that the union is going to work with FIPAG and other stakeholders in the movie industry so that there will be much improvement in the movie industry because the Guild can’t work on its own without their ideas.
