Dr. Caryn Agyemang Prempeh, the daughter of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has said that she would like her children to marry within the royal family.

According to her, marrying within the royal family makes one's companion much better and more comfortable because, once the person is already familiar with the culture, it creates room for mutual understanding.

She noted that, although she did not marry within the royal family, she would encourage her children to do so due to the experience she has had in life.

Speaking in an interview with Joy FM and monitored by GhanaWeb, Dr. Agyemang Prempeh emphasized the need for persons from a royal family to marry each other for the sake of mutual understanding to sustain their union.

"I was a bit resistant, but then I've grown to believe that it makes it easier because, if you marry someone who understands the culture or is familiar with Asanteman and the rules, they appreciate you better. They know where you're coming from, and so they respect you better. The further you move away from it, the more difficult it is.

"It's for your own good because that way, the person appreciates where you're coming from better. In my case, I am not in the royal league. But from my experience, I would want my kids to conform to it; it will make it easier," she said.
