If you help your man marry you, then you married a boy – Marriage counsellor

Popular marriage counsellor, Frank Edem Adofoli, has advised women against assuming sponsorship of their marriage.

According to him, women who do that, do not marry competent men; rather, they marry boys.

Speaking on ‘Moans and Cuddle’ on GhanaWeb TV, Edem Adofoli explained that a woman who provides significant financial assistance for her man before he is able to marry her can only marry a boy or her son.

He explained that it is the responsibility of parents to raise their children to become adults and to be able to assume responsibility for themselves. As such, if a man is not able to do that and a woman steps in, that woman would be raising her child.

He said, “Giving money to a man or providing significant financial assistance for a man, so you can marry the man, is like, helping a man to be a man, then you can marry him. And if you do that, you are marrying a boy.

“It is our parents’ responsibility to help us become adults, to become responsible men, to be able to take care of ourselves. So as you become a responsible man, and you are able to work to make some money, then you can be assisted as a friend.”

He continued, “But if you give him everything to marry you because you see potential in him, then you are getting it all wrong.”
