Popular Kumawood Movie Director, James Aboagye has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to as a matter of urgency sack the Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture Hon Catherine Abelema Afeku to save Creative Arts Industry from collapsing.

President Akufo-Addo after winning the 2016 general elections assured Ghanaian filmmakers that his government will not relegate the country’s film industry to the background

Ghanaian filmmakers played a major role in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) victory in the 2016 general elections.

Kumawood actors, directors, marketers and producers demonstrated against erstwhile Mahama administration over power crisis and collapsing of the Kumawood movie industry which made the past administration very unpopular.

James Aboagye speaking on Abusua Fm Entertainment show hosted Austine Woode and monitored by MyNewsGh.com said the Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture Hon Catherine Abelema Afeku has not done any remarkable thing for the creative industry since she became the sector minister.

According to James Aboagye, the sector minister has failed to address challenges affecting the Creative Arts Industry ever since she was appointed to office.

“NPP in their manifesto promised to build a large theatre for each region. But little attention has been given to that creative industry. None of the promises given to the creative arts industry by NPP party has been fulfilled. The Minister appointed to the sector does not have the industry at heart. She has failed totally. Catherine Afeku continuous staying in the office will collapse the creative arts industry. Nana Addo should sack Catherine Afeku” he demanded.
