Ghanaian Highlife musician Akwaboah Jnr has wondered why men choose to marry multiple women, given the challenges of managing even a single relationship.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the singer cum songwriter addressed those who justify polygamy by citing biblical figures like King Solomon.

He pointed out that Solomon who God granted divine wisdom above all others, eventually fell into idolatry due to his lust for women.

“The lust for women led him into idolatry, even though he was initially on God’s side,” Akwaboah noted.

The award-winning musician cautioned young men who use biblical figures to validate their polygamous inclinations, urging them to consider the consequences these people faced later in life.

“When we read about David and others, let’s not focus solely on their initial glories; let’s pay attention to their endings as well,” he added.

He criticised the pressure men impose on themselves by engaging in polygamous or promiscuous lifestyles, expressing disbelief at those who remain unfaithful even when their wives are “attractive, submissive, resourceful, and sexually adventurous.”

As a newlywed, Akwaboah shared his thoughts on fidelity, “Right now, I’m not an angel like everyone else, so I can’t personally claim I will be faithful or otherwise,” he admitted.

However, he emphasised his commitment to avoiding infidelity, which he believes leads to ruin in relationships.

The instrumentalist also addressed unfaithfulness among women, stating, “Some women are heavily unfaithful, but it’s done secretly.”
