Mr. Ivan Quashigah, an astute Ghanaian film maker, has said the film industry is a lucrative venture and has therefore called on the government to invest in the industry.
According to Mr. Quashigah, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Farmhouse Productions, one of the major factors that was hampering the growth of the film industry, was the lack of funding to help facilitate the production of good movies that can enable Ghana to compete globally.
''Film is major profit making industry and it is an industry that employs lots of people. So I would want government to realise the fact that it can employ lots of people and also sell Ghana as a tourist destination through films,’’ he told GNA in an interview.
Mr. Quashigah said the current terrain was not favourable to lots of film makers in the country and urged government to build more cinemas that would enable them to show their films.
He urged for collaboration between the major stakeholders in the film industry to enable the formulation of good structures to ensure Ghana produce good films and compete on the international stage.
“We can do better when we come together and bring out the best in us to enable us produce good films to make the industry attractive to investors,’’ he stated.
