Ghanaian media broadcaster and political commentator, Blakk Rasta, has strongly criticised actor, James Gardiner, for his recent comments about political affiliations and fan support.

Gardiner had stated that he doesn't mind losing followers and fans due to his political stance, emphasizing that he won't be pressured into supporting things he doesn't believe in just to keep fans.

However, in his live radio broadcast on 3FM on August 23, 2024, Blakk Rasta responded by calling Gardiner's remarks ‘irresponsible’.

“James Gardner says he doesn't care if you are not his fan because of his decisions. No, sir. Don't say that.

“This is irresponsible talking. It's almost like saying my children are old enough to make their own decisions, so, I don't care if I sit at home and smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol in front of them. Does it make sense to you?” he said.

According to him, celebrities have a significant influence on their followers and should be mindful of their influence and the impact of their actions on their fans.

Blakk Rasta also urged celebrities to be responsible and to keep their political and religious affiliations private.

“Let us be responsible. Nobody is saying don't take sides. You can decide to be a member of any political party, but keep it to yourself.

“Again, you can decide to belong to any religion. But please keep it to yourself as a celebrity,” he urged.

He added that while everyone has the right to their own beliefs, public figures should be cautious about making statements that could be perceived as arrogant or dismissive of their supporters.

"So, please let's be careful when we make utterances like this, they are quite arrogant. The people made you. Now you've gone to sit on top and you say you don't care whatever they think of you," Blakk Rasta concluded.
