It was exciting back in 2016 when the news came out that Wizkid had signed R2bees, Efya and Mr Eazi to his label Starboy Worldwide.
It became even more interesting when it came out Ghanaian rapper, one half of the R2bees duo Paedae aka Omar Sterling was made the president of the label.
R2bees associated with the Starboy Worldwide label so well it was unlikely for one to think otherwise.
Paedae shouted out Wizkid on a song in his ‘Victory through Harmony’ mixtape and also featured Wizkid on the song ‘Exodus’. R2bees went forward to collaborate with Wizkid on the hit-single ‘Tonight’.
The most confirming thing was when Paedae changed his Bio on Twitter to indicate he was President of the Starboy label. He at the time seemed to have been in a position to speak on the in-house running of the label as he hinted in a tweet on the Wizkid – Drake ‘Come Closer’ collaboration long before it was released.
Things in recent times, however, seem to be reverting back to how they were before the announcement of the inclusion of R2bees to Starboy was made. The speculation started when Wizkid came to Ghana to perform at the AITEO CAF Awards night and left back to Nigeria same night and nothing showed he met with his Label’s president Paedae.
In the past, he would have stayed and chilled with R2bees for some time before returning home but that did not happen this time. No big deal, he didn’t have enough time or maybe something. But to check Paedae’s Twitter account only to see that the Bio that once captured that he was President of Starboy has been changed is a confirmation of something.
As it is not wished that R2bees and Wizkid’s Starboy don’t part ways, this can only be handled as a speculation with regards to abrupt disassociation of R2bees’ Paedae from Starboy label.
