Ghanaian highlife music performer Rex Omar on live radio has said that, Ghana do not need a censorship board to regulate musical contents because it does not make sense and infringes human right.

Speaking on HitzFm's DaybreakHitz with Andy Dosty, the "Habiba" hitmaker has said that, It does not sense to have a censorship board which would regulate the contents of songs in the Ghanaian music fraternity since it will cease creativity and also infringes human right laws.

"Should there be a board to tell me what to sing about and what to write about? It makes no sense to have such censorship board to regulate what we should sing about. Imaging me, writing a song about my wife and a censorship board telling me I cant commercialize such song because it has profane lyrics? Does it make sense? " He has lamented.

The singer had continued to say that, "If there should be a censorship board for musicians, then we need to have that of pastors, journalists and even every institution. Pastors do quote the bible to preach with profane words and indeed they also might need a censorship board and same applies to journlaists and other institutions. Allow us to be creative and stop using the word Profanity to describe creativity."

Rex Omar has been consisted in the Ghanaian music fraternity over a decade and has have hits songs such as "Paapa, Obi Do Ba, Abiba among others.
