Zylofon Media signee, Obibini has expressed his displeasure with organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) over his exclusion from the Best Rapper Category.
According to him, he was expecting to be nominated as ‘best rapper of the year’ and should, therefore, have featured in that category only to be left out when the official list was recently unveiled.
Venting his frustration on Kumasi-based Sika Fm entertainment show dubbed ‘the Flavour Zone’, the musician when asked how he makes of the latest Vodafone Ghana Music Awards nominations, he said “it’s a shame that Obibini’s Statement is not included in the category. Whoever sat down and brought out the list without Obibini should be ashamed of himself”
According to the talented rapper, whoever is responsible for that is destroying Hip-hop music genres essence in Ghana.
Born Kwaku Boafo he indicated that his rap music titled “Statement” is a kind rap music which everyone will fall in love with just after listening.
“It’s funny the list will come out without me”.
The Zylofon signee however accepted the fact that though he did not get the nomination for this year’s category, he believes other artists on the list are equally good and talented.
This year’s category nominees jostling for the best rapper award includes Teephlow, Strongman, Eno Barony, Sarkodie, Lil shaker and Kojo-cue.
Obibini is not the first artiste to criticize Charterhouse Productions, the main organizer of the event since 2000 over its nomination lists.
Kwaw Kese had previously criticized the organisers for dishonouring the good work of artistes in the right manner.
Self-acclaimed dancehall King, Shatta Wale also joined by hurling insults at them too an extent he was barred from taking part.
