It's disrespectful to compare Sarkodie to Obrafour, Lord Kenya - Keche Joshua

Ghanaian musician, Keche Joshua, has stated that comparing Sarkodie to other veteran rappers like Obrafour and Lord Kenya does not show dignity to such individuals.

According to him, even though Sarkodie's exploits in the music industry are tremendous, comparing him to the veteran rappers is not prudent.

He explained that during the olden times, there was no social media and other online means to market songs and artistes as is the case in this era.

Keche Joshua noted that Sarkodie has been able to attain higher heights in the music industry due to the emergence of social media, something that was not available to the veterans; hence, such an argument is flawed.

"Sarkodie should be set aside. When Obrafour and Lord Kenya were reigning, social media was not strong. So, making that comparison would be a big mistake. Sarkodie is loud now because social media has taken him there. If social media was strong during Lord Kenya and Obrafour's time, we would not have known how they would perform," he said.

"I am not sure Sarkodie will be happy when he is compared to be the superior among Lord Kenya and Obrafour. Sarkodie is the biggest export in Ghana. I am annoyed when people compare me with R2Bees," he added.

"That comparison is a disrespect to the veterans because they did not have the same avenue as now," he said in Twi on UTV’s United Showbiz hosted by MzGee on July 13, 2024.

This comes after a debate emerged on social media over which rapper in Ghana is the best ever, considering their works.

Some musicians, including A Plus, Okyeame Kwame, and others, believe Sarkodie is the best rapper Ghana has produced, and therefore, there should be no argument.
