Police Chief Inspector Joseph Gabienu told the court that Madam Nyamekye, the complainant, who deals in cowhides, lives in the same house with Kusi, the student. He said the complainant had for sometime now detected the stealing of the hides from her shop and conducted her own investigations, which led to the arrest of Kusi.
Inspector Gabienu said during interrogation, he mentioned Appiah and his accomplices. He said the arrest of the two led to the further arrests of Ohenewaa, Pokuwaa and Ansah as those who bought the cowhide.
