Gospel artiste Joe Mettle last Saturday performed during the Gospel Goes Classical 2016 Live DVD Recording event in South Africa. He was among five other artistes from across the continent who performed during the event.

The others were Donnie McClurkin, Ntokozo Mbambo, Mahalia Buchanan, Tshwane Gospel Choir, and JMP Orchestra.

Themed ‘Grace for US Africa’, the event was a live DVD recording, which meant one would get to relive the memories from the event for many more years to come.

The recording took place on 22 October, 2016 at Carnival City, South Africa. A statement issued by the organisers said this was “the first recording of its nature where we witnessed the coming together of US, West Africa, and Southern Africa”.

The statement added: “This [was] the third time that Gospel Goes Classical [took] place. However, it is the first time that it was recorded live on the African continent. The first two shows were hosted successfully at Rhema in 2014 and Carnival City in 2015, respectively. These were not live recordings but just live concerts. Artistes such as Jonathan Butler, Benjamin Dube, First Lady, Rebecca Malope, and Sfiso Ncwane featured in those two episodes.”
