KNUST crowned champions of The Royal Banking Finance Challenge 2017

Kwame Nkrumah University if Science and Technology has lifted the trophy for the first edition of The Royal Banking Finance Challenge 2017.

The finals of the competition was held to at the auditorium of the Chartered Institute of Bankers with KNUST beating out tough competition from University of Ghana, University of Education Winneba and Methodist University

At the end of the 4th round in the finale, KNUST came 1st with 104 points, University of Ghana followed with 90 points, University of education was 3rd with 74 points and Methodist University finishing at 4th place with 42 points.

The competition initially started with 16 with Lancaster University with and the other universities dropping out as the challenge progressed.

Eight Universities, including Zenith, Lancaster, UG, KNUST, UPSA, GIMPA, UEW and Methodist University made it to the semifinals but only four schools qualified to the finals, they were University of Ghana, KNUST, Methodist University and UEW.

Representatives of KNUST Amanor Clement and Akipelu Grace Ayoka, final year students of KNUST business school, expressed profound gratitude to The Royal Bank and Edufair Foundation for the program.

Clement stated that if The Royal Banking Finance Challenge should be sustained, it will really bridge the gap between industry and academia. He also mentioned that the competition has been challenging.

The winners took home two laptops , 4000 cedis in Royal students Account awarded two contestants, 3000 cedis plus 1000 cedis worth of books awarded to the University, 1000 cedis worth of Databank Students Investment Account for the two contestants, 30,000 cedis worth of Glico Life Insurance cover plus 500 cedis worth of book allowance awarded to the two contestants.

University of Ghana also to home some prizes for placing 2nd.

There were consolation prizes for Valley View University, UEW, UG, Ghana Technology University College and Regent University college.

The Royal Banking and Finance Challenge 2017 is an inter university challenge designed to strengthen financial literacy in Ghana.
