Highlife musician, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has slammed the board of the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) supported by telecommunication network, Vodafone for what he terms as little concern for old high life gurus.
According to Kaakyire who was in an interview with Christian Agyeman on Onua FM said he really thinks the board wants to kill the real Ghanaian high life music as he sees from their actions. He said he was very disappointed in the board for not nominating 'Bantama''Bantama Kwasi Boakye, by Kofi B in last year's nominations.
"Sometimes they even push hiplife songs to high life. Which high life music was played than Bantama Kwasi Boakye by Kofi B last year? But the song did not even get nomination last year. In Ghana, they don't regard old high life musicians. That's why Asebu Amanfi said he is not interested in their carved objects. There was a time when Asebu's songs were used for most programs. But have you heard Asebu getting nominations in the GMA? The right thing must be done."
The 'Bronya' hitmaker was expressing his displeasure on why VGMA board have not been recognizing old high life musicians who have and are still contributing immensely to Ghana music .
