Member of the popular Ghanaian music group Keche, Andrew Kofi Cudjoe has opened up about his personal and musical journey.

Speaking to Elsie Lamar on Talkertainment on GhanaWeb TV, Andrew Cudjoe revealed that he ventured into music to prove a point to his ex-girlfriend, who had encouraged him to pursue music before leaving him for someone else.

Despite the setback, he chose not to abandon his dream and instead used it as motivation to succeed.

"Me starting the music and taking it seriously was to prove a point to my then girlfriend. She was the one who pushed me to go into music and pursue it with passion.

"And then later, I got to know that she had dumped me for another person.

"I was like, okay, I don't have to let this dream die. I want to just be out there to prove her wrong," he said.

Andrew also touched on the lack of support he initially received from his parents, who were skeptical about his musical ambitions.

However, his determination and passion led him to prove them wrong.

"I'm lucky to have had my parents together while I was growing up. Although they didn't support me from the beginning.

"They didn't agree. But then I thank God that I didn't listen to them. I had to be a bit stubborn. And prove them wrong," he said.

He also noted a shift in societal attitudes towards showbiz careers, mentioning that skills like football and dancing, which were frowned upon, are now being encouraged among the youth.

"It's not until recently that people are now pushing their wards to go and learn skills like football and dancing. They didn't hold any value then. But now, our era has made some people have a change of mind," he said.

Keche is a Ghanaian musical duo known for their Hiplife music, which blends highlife and hip hop.

Formed in 2004, members Joshua Ampah and Andrew Cudjoe have produced several hit songs including 'Aluguntugui,' 'Diabetes' (feat. Bisa Kdei), 'Party Of The Year' (feat. Mr Drew), 'Good Mood' (feat. Fameye) 'No Dulling' (feat. Kuami Eugene), 'Flavour' (feat. Shatta Wale), etc.

They have received multiple awards from the VGMAs and 4syte Music Video Awards.

They've also been active in social causes and were named Global Ambassadors for Peace.
