The 2019 Accra International Children Art Festival (Kiddafest) is set to be held at the National Theatre from Thursday, December 12, to Saturday, December 14.
The annual event aims at helping the young people to appreciate and to take pride in the country’s rich cultural heritage.
It provides the opportunity for them to delve into Ghanaian cultures, research and develop artistic performances, to promote the Ghanaian personality.
Kiddafest, serves as a vital platform for children to put on public display their creativity.
“Back to our roots” is the theme chosen for this year’s festival, which would attract participation from schools across the greater Accra Region.
There is going to be thrilling and spectacular cultural performances - dance, drama, music, visual arts, painting, props construction and costume design among others.
The side attraction would include food stalls, face painting, game corner, bouncy castle, floor games, and picture booth.
Each performing school would be given the chance to select one field activity - choreographed to give a true meaning and interpretation of the theme and to present this uniquely on stage.
There would also be guests’ appearances from stars, who had gone through the program since its inception about 25 years ago.
The festival’s expected large patronage is likely to give significant boost to the nation’s tourism sector.
Kiddafest is a collaboration between the National Theatre and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts.
