Popular Kumawood actor Papa Kumasi has called on his colleague actor, Dr Likee, to reconsider and possibly rescind his decision to quit acting and creating comedy content for YouTube.
According to Papa Kumasi, if Dr. Likee quits acting, it will negatively impact the Kumawood industry and may impede the growth of most up-and-coming actors and movie producers.
In a recent interview, Dr Likee announced that he would end his acting career two weeks after returning to Ghana from the United Kingdom (UK).
Explaining his decision in an interview shared on the Instagram page of GhKwaku, Dr Likee explained that despite his efforts, hard work, and commitment to ensuring that up-and-coming actors and content creators do well on YouTube, there are a lot of people who badmouth and accuse him wrongly.
According to him, he has decided to quit due to the stressful nature of his work and the numerous accusations levelled against him.
Reacting to this, Papa Kumasi acknowledged the role Dr Likee played in the revival of the Kumawood industry. He expressed fears the industry may suffer a great loss should he quit acting and producing movies.
“Only one person, and he does almost everything; he is into acting, directing, and producing movies. Aside these, he has helped a lot of the new guys advance their careers yet you people accuse him wrongly, therefore, I am not shocked he wants to quit.
“However, if he quits, the movie industry will suffer, so I am on my knees and I am begging him not to quit,” he said in an interview on Poleeno TV.
