Rising Ghanaian music star and MTN Hitmaker 9 first-runner-up, Dennis Nana Prempeh popularly known as Koby Tuesday, has opened up about the challenges he faced signing to a record label after the competition and the reason to go independent a few years into his contract.

In an exclusive interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, the musician who recently released a new single titled "Manna," revealed his expectations were not met despite honouring his part of the contract.

According to Koby Tuesday, his efforts were dwarfed because of the label’s experience with other artistes who had previously signed to the label.

“You know that experience where an artiste messes up and it affects everyone else on the label? I think that’s what happened to me…At some point, I felt I should have remained independent,” Koby Tuesday said.

He, however, admitted that the label worked effectively during his first year until things went south.

“I signed a deal with Auzy Media right after MTN Hitmaker. For the first year, everything was fine. I could see the work going on but...”

Auzy Media was home to musicians including Lord Paper and Enam.

Currently working as an independent artiste, Koby Tuesday wishes to solidify his place in the music industry.
