Legendary Ghanaian musician ‘The Maestro‘, Kojo Antwi, AKA ‘Mr. Music Man‘, through late July and early September of 2018 embarked on a historic tour of the United States (US) that saw him tour six States in a tour that has been described as “very successful” by Mr. Antwi.
Dubbed ‘The Maestro USA Tour 2018‘, the roadshow made its first stop in Chicago on July 25 where from where it headed into the American Capitol of Washington DC on August 11, 2018. In an interview with TheAfricanDream.net, Kojo Antwi said it was good to be back and touring the US after almost 6yrs.
“My first gig in Chicago was great, so was Washington DC, I think the organizers did a great job at promoting this tour as both the Ghanaian and African communities in the Diaspora came out to receive us very well at all our stops,” said Mr. Antwi.
Brand Africa Group, Berks Concepts, and Jagonzy TV, who were the main event sponsors and promoters all expressed satisfaction with the tour as well. They unanimously agreed that the legendary musician was greatly missed by his US fans evidenced by how they came out in support of the tour.
“We were glad about the turnout in the other states too, including New York and Atlanta which were in August. The States of Massachusetts and Texas is where the show ended in September, respectively on the 1st and 2nd of September. We wish we had more time to hit more States but Mr. Antwi needed to return to Ghana to continue work on this upcoming album,” revealed Julian Asiedu, one of the promoters.
“This was absolutely fun, I will surely be back. I need to finish up work on my 14th studio album as my fans have been waiting for something new from me, I apologize for the wait, but it will be worth it when it’s all over because this coming album will have something for everyone, I promise.” — Kojo Antwi.
When TheAfricanDream.net asked for more info about the new album, the musician smiled and retorted: “just expect vintage Kojo Antwi with a blend of modern and a pinch of Afrocentric flavor for lovers of music, no matter their race or taste. Let me also say there will be some great features as well, like Mugeez of R2Bees and dancehall artist Stonebwoy.”
‘The Maestro US Tour 2018‘ will soon be followed up with other tours across the globe according to Kojo Antwi who told TheAfricanDream.net that he is working on countries to include on the next tour where he plans to promote the new album and also give life to the growing power of African and Afropop music around the world.
Kojo Antwi concluded, “I am also working on a book so watch out for that and many other exciting surprises to hit you soon. For now, though, I want to thank everyone who supported this tour, this is only the beginning…”
‘All I Need is You‘ is the first album of the multi-award winning Kojo Antwi.
