The fear of being tagged and linked to the ‘league’ of Ghanaian musicians noted for profane songs has forced highlife maestro, Kojo Antwi, to shelve a love song he wrote some years ago.

According to Kojo Antwi who has been away from the music scene for years now, if released, the lyrics of that particular song would trigger criticisms of his image, which he has carefully built for the past two decades.

Titled “Kyer? me wo brazier mu brofr? na me nkyer? wo me nika mu kwadu”, to wit, “show me the pawpaw in your brazier and let me show you banana in my pant”, if released, the song would obviously spark controversy on whether the lyrics should be taken on the surface.

The Music Man made the revelation when he appeared on an Accra-based radio station Thursday to share his thoughts on the lyrics of some Ghanaian artistes that are considered profane, a phenomenon that appears to be creeping into the music scene in recent times.

The discussion stemmed from some of Ebony’s lyrics and recent outfits on and off stage, which some have criticized as inappropriate.

In his Kojo Antwi’s view, there are always nice ways a musician can express whatever message he or she wants to put across without necessarily being profane.

Touching on some lyrics of Ebony’s issue, he said he will not criticize the young artiste publicly. Kojo Antwi is currently out with “Supremo” produced by Kaywa.
