A former member of the Marriot International Band, now defunct, says Ghana’s music maestro Kojo Antwi would have been a bigger musician in the international scene if he had focused on reggae music like Alpha Blondy.

According to Amarh Pino, the kind of reggae music which Kojo Antwi did in the earlier days of his musical career was bigger than that of Lucky Dube and Alpha Blondy.

Amarh Pino also said most Kojo Antwi albums in the past had a highlife on a side A and reggae on side B of the cassette, and that if he had focused only on reggae he would have turn up to be bigger internationally.

“The kind of reggae music Kojo Antwi composes is bigger than what Lucky Dube and Alpha Blondy have done,” he said on Saturday edition of Onua 95.1 FM’s Anigye Mmre, an entertainment talk show hosted by Christian Agyei Frimpong.

He argued that “even though Kojo Antwi is one of the biggest musicians Ghana, he would have been better, bigger in Africa and gain lots of international recognition if he had focused on reggae music”

Pino observed that Alpha Blondy is one of the greatest musicians in Africa, Lucky Dube did more and they never did any music genre of their own country”.
