Kokovelli Rolls On

Kokovelli In showbiz, he is known as Kokovelli but was born in real life as Nathaniel Totimeh to Mr. Prince Totimeh and Mrs. Mavis Ofosu Appiah in Accra.

?Koko? as he is sometimes called had his elementary education at Datus Complex, moved on to Morning Star and later on proceeded to Ridge Church School. He then had his secondary level of education at Mfantsipim Secondary School.

Kokovelli, once a student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) did not want to depend on his parents after school so he decided to do something profitable.

Way back in school that is precisely in the year 1998, he used to perform at shows thus his friends encouraged him to go into music since they saw the best in him.

The young gem who was in the same rap group with Obour and Abega was also blessed with dancing thus he represented his school anytime there was a dance competition.

His parents were initially not in support of he doing music but later on gave him the maximum support which led to the birth of his first self-produced album titled ?Zaaza? which had tracks like ?Zaaza? remix (busted the local charts for months), ?Alelekele? and ?Odo Posie? on.

Later on, his manager by name Nat Kwabena Adisi of Music Music fame popularly known as Bola Ray secured a deal with Agiecoat (CEO of Agiecoat Records) by selling the album to Agiecoat.

One unique thing is that Kokovelli was given an hour on Ghana Television (GTV) to teach the public the ?Zaaza? dance on July 1, 2003 which landed him into being part of the ?Trinity? clan which consisted of Kokovelli himself, Batman and K.K Fosu.

The Kokovelli we really love has performed on shows in Ghana like Ghana Music Awards 2002 and 2003, A Nite With The Stars, Miss Central Region and 6th March Beach Bash.

He has also blessed other programmes like Music Music, Spacefon Legend 2003, Miss Legon 2002 and 2003, Miss S.S.S 2002 and 2003 and almost every show of KSM.

Due to his remarkable performances and frenzy on dance floors, he was also invited to perform in London, Italy, U.S.A and France where he captivated crowds with a strong stage presence and clever word play.

The young dude was nominated for the New Artiste of the year, Best Collaboration song of the year, Artiste of the year, Hiplife song of the year and Hiplife Artiste of the year at the Ghana Music Awards 2002.

In Italy, he picked up an award for being the Best Ghanaian artiste and won other awards such as New Artiste of the year, Hiplife song of the year, Song of the year and Hiplife album of the year.

Currently, he has one new album under his belt titled ?Sweetie? which has tracks like ?Otite Mpumamu? featuring Obeifuo and Butty Rankin, ?Sakplalakpa? featuring Okra and King David, ?Nsuo No Amuna? featuring K.K Fosu and Quata and ?Sweetie? featuring Batman and K.K Fosu.

The ?Sweetie? album which is being produced by Lisarf Records is set to break the walls of Ghana and if possible tear Ghana apart with a manager like Bola Ray at the helm.

With numerous styles and rhymes at his disposal, plus the impeccable cadence to deliver them, the young lyricist could be matched with various big artistes.

Not content to let only singing dominate the game, he combines singing and dancing into one package. Even big artistes have taken notice of his style.

He receives a lot of acclaim wherever he goes and hiplife heads everywhere have accepted the Ghanaian born as an authentic hiplife delegate.
