Kpatamiah wins "What do You Know?".

Accra, Jan. 18 GNA - Mr. Julius Kpatamiah of the University of Ghana on Sunday won the maiden edition of "What do you know " Quiz competition organized by Parliament at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra.

He scored 27 points at the end of three hectic rounds of questions both on parliamentary activities in Ghana and general knowledge. His closest challenger was Philip Agyemen Prempeh of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology who had 24 points. Alexander Darkwa, University of Development Studies was third with 20 points, Abdul Razak Yakubu, University of Cape Coast came fourth with 16 points, and Patrick Brenyazu, University Education of Winneba, fifth with 13 points.

The competition, which forms part of activities marking this year's Parliamentary Week celebration was under the theme: "Parliamentary Democracy-key to sustainable development".

The competition also ushers in programmes and activities lined up by Parliament to commemorate the occasion, which starts from January 18th-25th.

Speaking at the function, Mr. Alban Bagbin, Minority Leader and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee thanked the tertiary institutions in the competition for their contribution in deepening democracy in Ghana.

He also urged the youth to take keen interest in parliamentary activities, since they could learn a lot from the House. Mr. Emmanuel Adu Mante, Member of Parliament for Korley Klotey presented a cash prize of 1.5 million cedis to the winner, Julius Kpatamiah, while the second, third, fourth and fifth contestants also received cash prizes of 1.2 million cedis, one million cedis, 800,000 cedis and 500,000 cedis respectively.

Other dignitaries at the event include Members of Parliament and Mr. Ken Tachie, Clerk of Parliament.
