Everyone has the right to make his opinion known without the other heckling him, a reason forcing Kuami Eugene to render an apology to Patapaa for stating the obvious is unfair, that’s according to Mark Okraku-Mantey.
Kuami Eugene in an interview on GhOne TV ruled out a possibility of having a collaboration with Patapaa as he described songs by the Swedru-based artiste as noise.
His statement stoked controversy with some people bashing him for ‘downplaying’ the works of a colleague, abrantepa.com observed.
In the midst of the backlash, Kuami Eugene apologized to Patapaa for the remarks but Okraku-Mantey says the Lynx Entertainment act did not err.
“Relatively, if you listen to a Kuami Eugene song and a Patapaa song, Kuami Eugene will be in a position of speaking like that because of the way he records. I don’t have a problem with the statement just that our culture and how people see things, you dare not talk about a colleague and how you hear his music,” he said on Daybreak Hitz, Friday.
As monitored by abrantepa.com, Okraku-Mantey did not fathom why Kuami Eugene was forced to apologise. According to him, those who pushed Kuami Eugene to apologise were unfair to him.
“When Patapaa started, a lot of us thought he was a waste of time until later on that he did some other features. Then people said he has this side that can be tolerated. It is his view of the song. You can’t get the whole world to like your creative job. So why do we push the young man to apologise?” He queried.
“When we were doing Mentor, while I was hearing something negative, Dominic was hearing something positive. That is music for you” he noted.
Meanwhile despite the apology, Patapaa has released a diss song to Kuami Eugene.
